I’ve gone through an updated/uploaded all of the CSS, Fonts, Less, SCSS, and JS throughout my site with the latest Font Awesome icons. In the Theme Options, Portfolio section, I can reference those updated icons using the following HTML code:
<i class=”hi-icon-wrap hi-icon-effect hi-icon-effectb fa fa-battery-1 fa-4x”></i>However, when I edit the Features page using the Features template, and I add a feature at the bottom, when I try to select the Battery icon as above “fa-battery-1”, there is no option to select that icon from the drop down menu. I’ve tried refreshing, loading the dashboard on a browser with a completely wiped out cache with no success. I suspect I need to make a change to the parent theme, but I’m not sure where to do that. Can you assist?

you have to update the Fontawesome library in this folder ‘vafpress-framework/public/font’. Replace the files.

I ended up updating the font awesome icons throughout different folders in the site, not only the folder you listed in your response. When I only updated in some, and not all, folders, the updated fonts only appeared in the Portfolio section, but not as icons for buttons. When I searched for font awesome fonts throughout the site, I just went through and updated them all folder by folder and then the updated icons appeared in all sections of the site. Thanks for your help.
