Hello,
my client bought the Blanco WP-Theme and I installed it on her WordPress.
But when activating the required plugin Vafpress Metaboxes I get the following warning:
Warning: is_readable(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/www/ud04_349/html/wp-content/plugins/vafpress-metaboxes/vafpress.php/vp_textdomain-de_DE_formal.mo) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/ud04_349:/usr/share/php) in /var/www/ud04_349/html/wp-includes/l10n.php on line 584
First I thought it is caused by a open_basedir restriction so I contacted my clients server provider to lift the restriction. But they told me that open_basedir is not the problem. The said the file var/www/ud04_349/html/wp-content/plugins/vafpress-metaboxes/vafpress.php/vp_textdomain-de_DE_formal.mo does not exit.
So I think the problem is in the theme or the plugin. Since the plugin has no working support I am asking for help here.
It is probably because of this error but as for now the Theme options are not working so the theme is useless so far.
How could I solve this problem?

Hi,
what theme option do you mean? This plugin is used for the options in the pages, portfolio and slides. And the page ‘Theme settings’ uses the plugin ‘Redux Framework’, not this.

The global theme options are working now. The problem was caused by an WordPress JS bug in the new wordpress update.
However, the Vafpress Metabox warning is still there and breaks my page. When I try to deactivate the plugin, the page breaks entirly and I cannot see any content apart from another error message.

I have checked your website and the error. I have reviewed the code of the plugin and several forum websites and the error is produced by the server configuration.
I have found a possible solution. Fixed it by setting “none” in “open_basedir” in the php settings of your server provider.Regards

thanks for you work! I’ve been in contact with my provider again and they told me again that open_basedir can not be deactivated but it is also not the source of the problem. I think they are right when I look at the warning closesly:

vafpress.php is clearly not a directory but a file. That means the plugin is trying to retrieve a language from a path that can’t be right. Looks to my like a plugin code problem.
Since I am not an expert in PHP I cannot debug that myself. Also I cannot find a working support for the Vafpress problem. That means, at the moment you are the only person I can turn to with this problem…
The annoying part is that the theme does not seem to work without the plugin.

I have edited the plugin in your website and I have resolved the problem. Now, the error doesn’t appear.
